The 99 Percent Problem

Ron Suskind’s new book The One Percent Doctrine highlights the Cheney Administration’s policy of treating the merest threat as a certainty.

Ignoring the problems with that kind of reaction, look at their policy on global warning. Even though there is a 99% certainty that humans are harming the planet, and the results could be devastating for life as we know it, Chaney and his puppet Bush are waiting for ‘more evidence’.

In order to push forward their own greedy plans, they think nothing of killing tens of thousands of innocent people, including our own. But if a policy keeps GM from selling more Hummers, well, charge on.

Bush must be removed, by any means necessary.

Remembering the Good Old Days

It was about this time of year in 2001 when George II was shown the PDB, with the title “Osama Bin Laden determined to attack in U.S.” He was probably sleeping (or on vacation).

Or most likely, he was hard at work planning to attack Iraq for the oil and to make his daddy proud.

Remember Iraq, before the occupation? Before the elections, before the Constitution was approved, back when Saddam ruled with an iron fist? Remember back then?

Iraq then was a threat to no one. And far few people died violently there than did, say, in Dufar.

Then the U.S. went to war, based on lies to Congress and the American people, and made a bad thing terrible. So much more terrible that we have not only lost more than 2500 of your own family members, but more than 100,000 innocent civilians. Then there’s the loss of U.S. esteem in the world.

And what did we get? Cheney’s company got richer. Bush keeps his Saudi ‘family’ happy. And the average U.S. citizen is fucked.

It's time to get rid of Cheney and his lackys, all of them, in any way possible. (Of course I mean the via elections, what else would I mean?)

Wheelchair-confined Richard Paey committed almost exactly the same violations of Florida prescription drug laws that radio personality Rush Limbaugh did, with a different result: Limbaugh's sentence, in May, was addiction treatment, and Paey's, in 2004, was 25 years in prison. Both illegally possessed large quantities of painkillers for personal use, which Paey defiantly argued was (and will be) necessary to relieve nearly constant pain from unsuccessful spinal surgeries after an auto accident, but which Limbaugh admitted was simply the result of addiction. (In fact, if Limbaugh complies with his plea bargain, his conviction will be erased.) Paey's sentence now rests with a state Court of Appeal. [Tampa Tribune, 2-8-06]

Republicans sink even lower

The Oregon Republican Party wants to gut Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. For those who aren’t current on the Constitution (the Amendment has only been around since 1868), take a refresher course:

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

These Republicans want to do away with the provision that anyone born in the U.S. is a U.S. citizen. This is really creepy, even for Republicans. I’m waiting to see how Billo spins this.
